BOCA DE TOMATLÁN BEACH

A quaint fishing village nestled in a small bay about a 20 minute drive south of Puerto Vallarta.

Boca de Tomatlán is easily accessible by car or public transportation. The road to Boca on Highway 200 offers breathtaking views of the Los Arcos National Marine Park, the Puerto Vallarta coastline and the entire Banderas Bay!

The cozy village of Boca de Tomatlán has a small beach with soft golden sand and gentle to moderate waves, ideal for swimming. You will find several family-owned beachfront restaurants offering menus based on fresh seafood and other traditional Mexican specialties.

The Malecon in Boca de Tomatlán is rather small, although it is a great place to enjoy the sunset while sipping a refreshing “nieve de garrafa” (a homemade fruit-flavored sherbet) and watching the flocks of seagulls resting on the bows of the pangas, lulled by the swaying of the waves.

If you want to visit other idyllic beaches south of Puerto Vallarta, such as Las Animas, Playa Caballo, Quimixto, and Yelapa, Boca de Tomatlán is an important boarding point for pangas and water taxis.

It is also the starting point for a hiking trail that follows the coast through the mountains. This trail allows you to reach Colomitos, Las Animas and other beaches by land as far as the village of Quimixto.
